Dear Parent/Guardian and Band Member

Here are some important items that you need to take care of over the summer break.

If you are renting your instrument, please make sure you get serviced at your rental location.  This is usually included in the rental fee – so don’t delay.

If you own your instrument please take it to a music repair shop and have it serviced.  Just like a dental check up, or car tune up, your instruments need SERVICING from time to time.

All clarinet and saxophone players should plan on UPGRADING their beginner mouthpiece with the following mouthpiece by September –
Clarinet – Vandoern B45 and Rovner ligature
Saxophone – Vandoren optimum AL3 and Rovner ligature

Supplies needed by all wind players for September –
Flute – cleaning rod and handkerchief swab
Clarinet – box of 5 or more Mitchell Lurie reeds, swab
Bassoon and Oboe -at least three working reeds
Saxophone – box of 5 or more Hemke reeds, swab
Trumpet – valve oil, mouthpiece brush, valve brush, trumpet snake (for cleaning)
French horn –rotor oil, mouthpiece brush
French horn – valve oil, mouthpiece brush
Baritone horn – valve oil, mouthpiece brush, valve brush, snake (for cleaning)
Trombone – mouthpiece brush, slide care kite (water bottle, slide cream)
Tuba – mouthpiece brush, valve oil

Percussionists will need the following for September
Students need a stick bag, 5B wood tip and 7A word or nylon tip drum sticks, a pair of inexpensive bell mallets, a pair of medium timpani mallets and a stick bag.
